Putting A Value on Natural Assets

Updated: Jan 8

Natural assets like forests, streams, wetlands, and shorelines provide irreplaceable ecosystem services to local communities.

Join Roy Brooke from the Natural Assets Initiative to learn how communities can

manage their natural assets to deliver services such as clean water, climate

regulation, and flood mitigation.

Learn from Linus Shaw, Malahat Nation Land Stewardship Coordinator, about the me'luxulh

mustimuhw tumuhw (Malahat's lands) tool, including the Malahat First Nation’s Natural

Asset Inventory Project.

Terrific event last night honouring your 10th year and growing! A lot of good energy in the room.

Dr Kool was bold to bring to us the question that was put to him, “When are you [guys] going to live like you plan on staying here?” It has far reaching implications.

His presentation was a deep and provocative response to that question, one that we are invited to take with us, especially with the questions at the heart of his closing story: “How do you teach your children to live like they plan on staying here?” … and “How did you learn to be responsible for the environment?” — “showing respect” being the place where we start.

Much to take…
