World Migratory Bird Day May 11th

Are you considering hosting an event on or around May 11th again this year celebrating the return of migratory birds to Canada?  If you are interested in hosting an event, please fill out this form and we will share it on our birdday.ca website! Check out the 30+ events already on the map too!

The conservation theme of this year’s World Migratory Bird Day focuses on the importance of insect conservation and how their declines go hand-in-hand with the decrease of migratory bird populations including many of the featured species such as Bobolink, Cliff Swallows and more.

This year, we would love to host even more Bird Day events, with an emphasis on proactive conservation measures, the negative impacts of pesticide use on insect and bird diversity, migratory bird conservation awareness and education. Some calls to action may include: reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers, advocating for organic farming practices, and switching to only planting native species to support bugs and birds. You can also find more free, downloadable + print resources from our friends at Environment for the America’s Digital Resource Library and free printable resources. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about hosting your Bird Day event.
